    pLayday: 5/13 – GTA Driver's Test

    racing!

    pLayday: 5/13 – GTA Driver’s Test

I’m thinking, perhaps a goal of some sort for this week’s run. Maybe center on the Race modes for a bit? I could use the driving practice.

Our cops and robbers games are fun, but often end when either team slams into a wall for no real reason. I certainly don’t “race” enough in single player, but have plenty of on foot practice under my belt.

Ok. Boramis is easily the best driver in our group. We can either:
      Let him always drive.

Or pracitce our butts off. I think the racing went well, if a bit boring for him (Being in the lead the whole time) :P

When you are low on health, there is only one way to REALLY get it back

    pLayday: 5/6 – GTA 4 Real, yo.

When you are low on health, you can either try to find a hooker, cox her into your car (which has to look nice), drive somewhere nice and quiet, and take some time to get your health back.

Or you can go into the local burger joint and be out in a 10 seconds. Also, an apparently fun Free Mode multiplayer gametype is to hold up in a fast food joint and see how many stars you can amass.

GTA 4. Zazz and Kflair have 2 xboxs due to some creative lending, so we can hopefully get both of them in the game. Everyone owns this, including phyzkid. Let’s see if we can get a nice large group and hop around the play types. I’ve definitely been enjoying Cops Vs Robbers mode and Free Mode. The team Mayfia work one may be interesting as well (we’ve only dont FFA Mayfia).

Any suggestions? Everyone able to make it?

pLayday: 4/22 – Last minute Gears

We picked up Gears as our game. First round was a bit of a blow out, but the teams of Phokal, Zazz, Boramis vs. cvang, kFlair, and Euphoric seemed like quite a well-balanced match-up. It was a fun time had by all until Live decided to hiccup. In one second we lost our live connections, which the game detects and then kicks you from the game.

Hopefully this downtime doesn’t occur next week when the game is tentatively GTA IV.

Yup, hope you all have it pre-ordered.

Am I the only one who thinks there’s virtually no chance Live won’t crash on Tuesday? Given how well they handled Christmas it’ll probably be sketchy for a month.

    pLayday: 4/15 – Halo 3

Well, I lent Zazz my copy of CoD4, so I can’t very well pick THAT to play. If everyone who shows has Orange Box we may flip to that. But I think a better idea would be if I (or you) get friends over for split screen fun, then we can stick with Halo.

In fact, try to invite some more random friends in for this lan game. We’ll try to keep the difficulty at a chill level. Emphasis on teamwork. In fact, let’s try the Race game mode on the large maps with vehicles. In preparation for GTA IV. Which you all must buy. Seriously.

We can try multiple teams (3-4 teams, depending on how many people show).

we should play some rocket race. it keeps things even cause it’s generally not as hard for entry level players, plus it’s fun as hell. think mario kart with rocket launchers on something the scale of sandtrap.

The GTA IV Special edition bundle

We are all going to buy GTA IV

That’s right. We don’t have a lot of info on the included multiplayer of GTA IV, but we all know we are going to buy it anyway. I propose this be one of the games we all get for pLayday, as it is potentially (rumored) to have 16 player multiplayer. Does anyone think they won’t end up with this game within a week of launch?

kotaku put up some pics from GTA IV’s multiplayer, and…….wow. to quote them:

“Co-operative assaults on armoured vans should be enough to whet most appetites, but no. No, they had to go show a mid-air knife fight at sunset.”

playday should probably be changed to “playdays”; possibly even “playweek”, come april 29th.

a brief summary: nearly all modes support 16 players, over a dozen different gametypes all within the open world of liberty city.

    Awesome board game

This is pretty sweet. I wonder how they will get the achievements tied to my live account? Perhaps it’s like the Halo 3 extras dvd, that is actually a game.

    CoD4 Price

    pLayday: 3/4 – Call of Duty 4

I know it isn’t split-screen (and online simultaneously), and not everyone owns it. But Halo 3 two weeks in a row seems a bit lame when most of us have this game. It’s a low hp, high speed match. Think Counterstrike. Larger maps a decent teamplay help a lot. Getting the drop on somebody generally leads to a free kill (much more so often than in Halo).

Experience gained in online matches also directly relates to new class skills, abilities, and guns. There is also a party system similar to Halo’s (though I have yet to use it). It should be fun.

There are many different types of game modes. If anyone has any info on them, or preferences for what we play, post away.

We can probably start with a Free For All match or a Team Death Match to get everyone accustomed. They are instant respawning types with the simple objective of kill kill kill uav kill kill airstrike kill kill helicopter support.

hintzilla 1:10 pm on March 4, 2008 Permalink | Reply

dandy. i haven’t checked out the party system much either, so this should be interesting. also, the auto update for cod4 just came out late last week i believe. i’ve only played one game to check out the new kill cams since then, which means that i ran around like a jackass trying to get people to kill me with grenades and airstrikes. the new grenade cam is all kinds of cool, but i haven’t seen any of the others yet.

    TF2 Spy vs Eng

    pLayday: 2/19 – Team Fortress 2

It is time for some 2fort. Premise is simple. Capture the flag, and bring it back to base. The flag is located in the basement of the enemy installation (a mirror image of your own). You can get there via the front entrance, then up the stairs and to one of two stairways down, or via the sewer entrance (which leads to the up stairs room).

If we can get 8 of us, we can get that elusive achievement.

I think we all own Orangebox, except for raforce, so we’ll probably flip to another game (Halo or Undertow) partway through if he’s still online. Don’t want to leave anybody out for too long :)

awesome. i’ve been neglecting this part of the orange box for a while now just becuase TF2 seems so out of control without a party of people you know. also, you had me at ‘elusive achievement’.

First Names on xbLive and pLayday page?

Does anyone have any objection to adding their first names to the Names section of xbLive, and for me adding them to the pLayday page? Most of you know each other, but not everyone, even those you’ve played with on Live before.

Hintzilla, btw, is a friend of mine from WTS. Everyone else are friends I’ve known through the BNMC or Scooter.

mmm…Decided against adding names to the pLayday page. I figure that info doesn’t really need to be on the net. But first names in xbLive would be quite nice for sorting contact lists and such.

I hope everyone takes the time to do it later.
