Dead Space
I only heard about Dead Space about a week before the release, but I wanted to play it anyway. Most of the games that I want, Fallout 3, Fable 2, I have known about for years, but something about Dead Space struck me right away. My impression was it was going to have a Universe connected with it. An Atmosphere. Most of the games that I like are just simple a matter of
Step One: Move cursor over antagonist
Step Two: Pull Trigger
Story happens in the background, but if the story wasn’t there, I’d probably still have a pretty good time.
Theme Park: 486sx fun on Nintendo DS
I just wanted to comment on the picture and mention that I think I’ve been desensitized to asian stereotyping. I didn’t even pay any attention to the commercial until after John Stewart used it as an example of current racial stereotyping. I thought to myself “You know what self, should I be mildly offended”. Of course, then there’s South Park that takes it to a new level.
I first played Theme park when it was a DOS game that would be unplayablely slow on my 20 mhz 486 when I set the resolution to 1024×768. I didn’t have a sound card, so the barfing sounds of the people getting sick from the rollercoasters were just digitized beeps.
sustenance
Detnap: “I can pick you up a sandwich at Jimmy John’s. Or is there something you’d want more than Jimmy John’s?”
Me: “Bags of money. Or Dokapon Kingdom. Or Dead Space.”
Detnap: “How about something for lunch that is not a video game?”
Me: “But I sustain myself with videogames. Food just tastes good.”
Detnap: “…”
pLayday: 10/14 – *Cancelled*
I’m not going to be able to make it, and I don’t think we’ll get many people online without me organizing it. So, show up if you’d like, but don’t expect to see many/any people on. I’m going to attempt a ressurection later. I’ll also poll quick to see who is still interested in doing it; expect to hear from me soon. don’t tell me the ending to: Naruto – Rise of a Ninja
I’m going to be naturally a little bitter about this game. It crashes on me nearly every time I hit a log. I’m not sure why, but it is all the more frustrating to have to do every trap filled platforming sequence perfectly, or be forced to reboot the system.
But, I’ll try to explain the game based on merit as if it worked perfectly.
pLayday: 10/7 – SC4 or RB2
I’m thinking of just having a few friends over. If you are interested, drop me a line and we’ll play something. If you are up for some Online action and can’t physically make it over, let me know and we’ll work you in somehow.
Otherwise, take note: pLayday will be changing dates in a month or so; probably to Thursday. Email or post schedules and times you have available and I’ll pick a new day/slot.
I finally beat: Star Wars – The Force Unleashed
Actually, I finally posted on beating Star Wars – The Force Unleashed. I actually beat it a couple of days ago, which was a couple days after it’s release. I beat the whole thing in about 3 sittings/days. Not a long game at what was probably about 8 hours, but not too short either. I felt compelled to play through quickly to experience the story. This is a game that deserves the compliment sandwich. It has so many absolutely great things going for it that are counteracted by awful, horrible Dark Sides.
I finally beat: Rainbow Six Vegas
I finally beat Rainbow Six Vegas. This is one of the games that founded this site. It’s been in my queue since its release, played sporadically in single player, coop, and multiplayer. I’ve probably played the first level a couple dozen times in splitscreen multiplayer, or watched 2 friends play it. And now it’s done. As usual, most of my initial impressions hold. But a few things did come up near the end, both good and bad.
pLayday: 9/22 – Soul Calibur 4
Hola amigos,
In honor of the recent release of The Force Unleashed, I’m thinking of playing some Star Wars.
Online turnouts have been fair; I think it’s time to host another little get together at my place for some Soul Calibur IV fun. I’ve got the arcade sticks if you bring the skills. If anyone has another suggestion (a bit of Rock Band 2 perhaps), feel free to post.
And what is taking them so long to release Vader as DLC (or Lightsabers as weapons for everyone else)?
Release them! We’ll pay!
