When Childhood Dream Comes True: Final Fantasy IV on the DS
My favorite games of all time were the Final Fantasy games on the Super Nintendo. I was younger then, less jaded, more welcoming. I could accept a cliche story line (back then, I probably didn’t have enough of a literary background to know what was cliche) and the silliness that is Final Fantasy. I’m not going to go into “what’s wrong with games today” or anything like that, but I just everybody to know that I liked Final Fantasy above all else. I have never since had such a connection to a video game.
So, now we flash forward to the years 2008 and with me, a bitter old man who’s bitching about some wossname or other. Video Game no longer have that magic associated with it like my Super Nintendo days but rather a release where I can take some pent up energy and frustration and vent it out of my thumbs. It’s a social experience where I can digitally see my friends or make some ears bleed by singing in Rock Band. I don’t have 16 hours day to play games anymore, now that I have bills to pay and chores to do (who am I kidding, I probably do chores once a month). Anyhow, point is, video games are now mundane. Diablo 2 – US East Ladder Characters

Boramis notes when you order the $6 keys you have to pick both server and ladder. This is odd b/c server is per b.net acct and ladder is per character. For now, pick US East w/ Ladder, just in case it matters.
Remember, we’ll all want to start with level 1 characters at the same time, and your characters have to have unique names. If you want to play with us with a specific name, be sure not to name your ‘testing out’ character the same one. Not sure how long it takes after you delete them to be able to reuse the name.

I know some of you have expressed interest in starting a Diablo 2 campaign run. This would also be an hour or 2 a week, similar to pLayday, but attendance would be more mandatory. We wouldn’t want some party members to get higher than others or to finish chapters without people present. For the same reason, we would not want to play with these characters outside of the timeslot.
So, email me or post here your schedule (free days/times) if you are interested in participating. There are a limited number of slots (6-8, can’t remember).

Has anyone announced this? It seems a new beta of the Outlook Connector has been released and allows for syncing to your Hotmail calendar (previously a feature only available for Premium accounts).
Diablo 2 – Step 1. Owning it
Alright, today’s Amazon deal of the hour is Diablo 2 battlechest for 27 bucks. Not a GREAT deal (Gogamer.com has it for $30), but amazon is tax-less and ships free.

Boramis also found a deal where you can buy used keys for about $6, then use them on blizzard’s site to get the media (Download to replace scratched cds). Certainly way cheaper.

I’ve got some errands to run later this evening. If you guys want to start ahead of time, go ahead (all Gamertags are on the pLayday page). Otherwise I think I’d be able to make it @9pm. Game? CoD4? GTA4?

Fallout 3: Lunchbox
I generally don’t buy the collector’s editions of games, but seeing the swag with the Fallout 3 Collector Edition, I think I have to change my tune.
It comes with a Fallout 3 lunchbox. Awesome.

Quick update on things that I’ve been thinking about, but haven’t had time to post on yet:
-Diablo 2 campaign run, either on Tuesdays or another day. Boramis may have found D2 for $5.
-pLayday to begin using other systems potentially: the Wii (Mario Kart), PC (Team Fortress 2, DoD:S, Warcraft 3, other free games?, suggestions?)
-I beat The Darkness
-I beat MGS4
-I will be updating the CSS stylesheet to make the site more visually pleasing again. New banner coming too (now that the darkness has finished).
