Prince of Persia Trailer(s) are here

A little late, but here are some Prince of Persia trailers.  As you may know, I’m a big fan of the original PoP, and the Sands of Time trilogy (xbox/ps2/gamecube games).  I’m also a big fan of the original Pirates of the Caribbean.  Hopefully, that means I’ll like this movie.  From the trailers,… I don’t know yet.  I was let down by the latest Prince of Persia title and the last Pirates movie.  But maybe they can rewind a bit, and catch some of the magic they originally had.  Plus, Mechner’s involved in this one.  He hasn’t been around since the original Sands of Time game.

Et Tu Bruce?

Bruce Campbell. More awesome than an Afroed Samurai (even with an Afroed Samurai being very awesome).

He was popularized in as Ash Williams in Army of Darkness, with the bandwagoneers jumping back and viewing his other previous works such as Evil Dead 1 and subsequently, Evil Dead 2. That should be enough for his name to live on forever.

I finally watched: Seven

Seven Samurai

I finally watched: Seven

Well, I think I may break a trend here. I think I need to delve into spoiler territory for Seven. The aspects I want to talk or complain about are parts of the movie that, while sometimes obvious, are not revealed immediately in the movie.

And don’t get me started about the alternate ending (yet)…

But I won’t. I’ll just complain a little vaguely.

I finally watched: A Scanner Darkly

Bill and Ted

I finally watched: A Scanner Darkly

Some people think Keanu Reeves can’t act. He is just very good at playing dazed and confused. Much like Jack Nichelson only plays crazy people.

In A Scanner Darkly, K plays a drugged out undercover agent. This is a great role for him. He is dazed, confused, AND he doesn’t understand why. Continue reading

I finally watched: Brick

Brick

I finally watched: Brick

No. You have not heard of this movie. At least, I find that highly unlikely. Normally, film noir is hard to recommend to people. Some people like it, others simply can’t relate to its method of story telling. The overhanded dialog in an aging cinema type is not exactly easy to approach.

Have you been to High School? Then you will be able to approach Brick.

Do you like a good mystery? Then you will probably enjoy Brick. Continue reading

There is no ending to: SceneIt?

BookIt

There is no ending to: SceneIt?

There is no plot to spoil for SceneIt, only the questions. The movie selection is varied, with quite a few older Oscar-winning movies. “It won 13 Oscars?!? How have I not heard of it!” There is a nice selection of easy achievements, and a few trickier ones.

Overall, it is a great party game. The buzzer controllers are fun to use and fairly easy to understand. They use a proprietary IR USB hub. This initially meets with a poor reaction, but they did take this as an opportunity to do something good for the consumer. You can use both a regular controller and SceneIt controller at the same time, letting up to 8 people play in teams of 2…. Continue reading

don't tell me the ending to: No Country for Old Men

don’t tell me the ending to: No Country for Old Men

My friends have all seen No Country for Old Men. Some recommend it, some do not. I still need to see it.

I know very little about the movie going into it, but it is apparently hard to follow without some previous knowledge. I’ve found that the lower my expectations and the less I know of the movie, the more I can enjoy watching it. I have also learned that a certain base knowledge, or non-spoilers, can help understand scenes and dialog that might otherwise have lost its meaning. So how much should I learn before I go into this one?

Below are some non-spoilers, but knowledge that people have passed on to me so that I may enjoy/understand the movie during my first viewing: Continue reading

I finally watched: National Treasure 2 – The Book of Secrets

I finally watched: National Treasure 2 – The Book of Secrets

I saw a movie recently. It was still in theaters. In fact, it is even new. It’s a shame I didn’t like it more.
